Fred Bond was a process engineer at the Allis Chalmers company who devised a way to predict grinding specific energy consumption and mill sizes for "conventional" equipment (in 1940's and 1950's) including rod mills, ball mills and crushers.
Derek Barratt is a consulting engineer who extended Bond's methodology to semi-autogenous and autogenous grinding mills using calibrations to early SAG mill plants in western North America and in Chile.
