Media Density

Most power-based models are not concerned about the diameter of grinding media (rods or balls), but the density of the media does influence the power draw by influencing the weight of the charge being rotated in the mill. For the purposes of mill power draw models, the following maybe used:

Forged steel High-chrome steel Ceramic (90% alumina) Pebbles
Density, t/m3 7.8 7.6 3.6 Ore density
